Suffering means that there is someone, someone who is not happy with his or her current situation. So , he or she puts all efforts to change the situation or to solve the problem. If he or she fails to do so then he or she suffers , isn't it so ?
Buddha has already explored this problem. He tried to find the solution by going into the deep of this problem.
He met many gurus at his time to find the solution but he didn't get it . In the end ,he finally got it under a tree . The tree provided him the solution.
What is the solution?
He realised that there is no self in the body that is suffering. By the word "self" he means one who is the owner of the body, that persists even after the body dies.
He said that there is no such thing as "self" . So if body feels pain then there is No-one experiencing it . It is happening to body and feels by the mind. Where is suffering?
The whole of the body , mind , Consciousness, feeling etc make up a illusionary personal self which you call "i" and a realisation that there is no such entity as a seperate self is the end of suffering. This end of suffering is freedom, this is Enlightenment. This is what Buddha had found in his research.
